THE DAYS OF FRACTION - Sept 9 & 10th, 2012

The tail end of summer is a chance for us all to spend time with family and friends in our naturally beautiful region of the world.  But there is a very real threat to our region-Fracking.  It has the ability to contaminate our water, contaminate our air, and leave us with large amounts of industrial waste.

So we have to ask, what are you doing this September 10? Why not join us and others across Atlantic Canada for a day of protest against our mutual enemy- Hydraulic Fracturing (aka Fracking).

Our Vision: To have multiple protests across Atlantic Canada against Fracking at the same time-with the same message-We do not want fracking in Atlantic Canada (or anywhere really)

The Action: Organize or take part in a fracking protest on Sept 10th, 2012. If you're in Charlottetown, join these events:

1) Rally on Sunday, September 9 beginning at 5:30 p.m. in front of Confederation Center, Charlottetown where the Canadian energy ministers will gather for a private dinner at 6 p.m. The federal minister of energy and mines will also be in attendance.

2) Protest - Anti-fracking group from New Brunswick will hold protest in front of Delta Hotel in Charlottetown on Monday morning September 10 beginning at 9 a.m.

3) Alternative Summit - Peoples' Summit on sustainable energy and economies Monday afternoon, September 10 at St. Peters Hall, Charlottetown, organized by anti-fracking group from New Brunswick. (contact Mark D'Arcy - Fredericton)

4) Walk - Save our Seas and Shores coalition will hold a quiet walk on Tuesday, September 11 to demonstrate the respect and awe eastern Canadians have for the Gulf of St. Lawrence beginning at 11:30 a.m. as the Energy ministers hold their final session at the Delta. The purpose is to urge the governments of the five provinces bordering the Gulf of St. Lawrence to declare a moratorium on oil and gas exploration and exploitation activities in the Gulf, including drilling and seismic surveys.

For Organizers: Send us the details of your fracking protest (Where, and When) and we'll post it on this website.  You can send the details to Emma Hebb, Volunteer Coordinator, at emmah@sierraclub.ca

For Would Be Participants: Check back often to find a fracking protest near you!
